The Press and Online Media Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented on Saturday in Trebinje a form for reporting violations of media freedom on social media platforms to editors and journalists of local media.
Journalistic articles are often labelled as disinformation, which results in their removal or reduced visibility on social media, even though they do not violate any provisions of the Code for Print and Online Media of BiH. This has a negative impact on media visibility on social platforms and directly affects their revenue.
The form will serve for reporting cases that editors and journalists consider to be violations of media freedom, for instance, when their content is unjustifiably labelled as disinformation, removed, or otherwise restricted by social media platforms. The Press and Online Media Council in BiH will forward received complaints to the Complaints Commission for review, so that it can decide whether or not the Press and Online Media Code of BiH has been violated. The form is available on the website of the Press and Online Media Council in BiH at the link: https://vzs.ba/krsenje-slobode-medija/
