The Press and Online Media Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina has joined a regional campaign jointly implemented by the self-regulatory bodies of Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo*, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Türkiye within the UNESCO project “Building Trust in Media in South East Europe: Support to Journalism as a Public Good”, funded by the European Union.
The production of the campaign videos was preceded by a series of discussions among representatives of the participating self-regulatory bodies on the common challenges they face in their daily work, as well as on how the campaign could most effectively address these challenges while raising public awareness of the importance of media self-regulation.
The campaign led by the Press Council of Serbia features two promotional videos, “Why Are Press Councils Important?” and “Privacy and Ethics in Media Reporting”, aimed at increasing public awareness of the role of self-regulatory bodies in safeguarding professional journalistic standards, promoting citizens’ right to file complaints against print and online media, strengthening public trust in the media, and, ultimately, fostering respect for fundamental human rights in a democratic society.
